1871
Henry Waring joins the Massachusetts firm: Baldwin, Westgate and Waring Furniture and Undertaking of Fall River.
1883
Henry Waring is joined by his son, James H. Waring.
1920
Sumner J. Waring joins his father, James H. Waring, at 356 South Main Street in Fall River, Massachusetts.
1937
Cherry Place opens - one of the first funeral homes in Massachusetts designed to be multi-denominational serving all faiths, nationalities and lifestyles.
1958
Sumner James Waring Jr. joins his father at Cherry Place in Fall River.
1965
Sumner James Waring Jr. assumes ownership in 1965.
1969
Birchcrest Funeral Home expands Waring's service area into Swansea.
1971
Thomas J. Ashton & Sons joins Waring to form Waring-Ashton.
1979
Growth continues as D.D.Sullivan-Driscoll Funeral Home becomes part of the Waring group.
1981
The Coughlin Funeral Home joins the Waring group.
1988
Donnelly Funeral Home is added to the Waring service family. 
1990
J.S. Waterman of Greater Boston and Wellesley joins the Waring family.
1991
Jay Waring joins his father as the fifth generation family member to continue the firm.
The O'Rourke Funeral Home becomes part of the Waring service family.
1993
Added to the Waring-Sullivan family are the New Bedford area homes:

1997
The service family continues to grow with the additions of the Jeffrey E. Sullivan Funeral Home, the Maplewood Funeral Home and the Rose E. Sullivan Funeral Home of Somerset.
1998 - 2001
Waring-Sullivan Affiliated Family Funeral and Cremation Services continues its excellent reputation for leadership, commitment, professionalism and dedication as it adds funeral homes in Boston, Norwood, Quincy, Brookline, Framingham, Sudbury, Worcester, Lynn, Peabody, Marblehead and Swampscott to its ever-growing "service family".
